01The challenge
Metadoc, founded by physician Dr. Muhammad Jamal and licensed by the Dubai Health Authority, set out in 2021 to make healthcare as easy to order as a taxi. It needed one platform that hotels, corporates and residents could book from, that matched every request to an available licensed professional, kept patient records secure, and gave a small operations team full control over services, pricing and providers.
02What we did
- Discovery
We mapped the service catalogue with the clinical team, from PCR testing and doctor-on-call visits to lab packages, IV therapy, physiotherapy and childcare, and designed one booking model that works for a resident at home, a guest in a hotel room and a company booking for its staff.
- Design & build
A React Native app for iOS, Android and the web with four languages, Firebase as the backend (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions, push), Stripe payments, and a React operations dashboard. Cloud Functions assign each booking to a licensed provider, track the visit live, and send push and email updates at every step.
- Launch & grow
Live across the UAE with 15+ licensed provider partners and 50+ services. In 2024 Metadoc expanded from the marketplace into a healthcare ecosystem, and APPStairs now builds its clinic operating system, Flux, on the same partnership.
03The outcome
Metadoc went from an idea to a DHA-licensed platform serving the UAE, with a four-year product partnership that continues today in its clinic and doctor software.
